Fertigation Fertilizer

Have you ever heard of fertigation fertilizer? Chances are, you may not be an avid gardener or agriculturalist who has the background to understand this terminology. The process is a little complex but we want our customers to get a basis for what sort of experience they’re buying into. When you apply our fertilizer you will notice a huge margin of difference from other more common kinds and there is a reason for that. Some of the golf courses that we have worked with have cut their costs on maintenance by more than 30%. Some experience ever larger percentage markdowns. Essentially, that is because our fertilizer is specifically designed to follow our fertigation process. If you don’t know what that is, we’ll take some time to delve into that now. This is the cornerstone of our business and Turf Feeding is very proud to provide this revolutionary new method.

Watering Won’t Always Work

To put it simply, when you water your plants there are a couple of things that happen. First of all, the plants receive their daily intakes of H2O. Yet, water is a substance most known for its ability to act as a catalyzer for reactions. This means that the number of chemical reactions that can happen in the plant will go up when there is more water added. However, many have a common misconception about the value of water versus any other nutrients. While they may be getting water that is necessary for their survival, that irrigation system is not getting the plants the actual chemical compounds that they need to function. This would entail certain sugars, enzymes, and proteins that contribute to the processes that keep them growing.

So as it appears, water will keep them alive but it won’t keep them green. This means that when you are watering your plants, the water will certainly reach the plants but there might be another result. If you placed the fertilizer (basically a complex multi-vitamin for plants) in the soil, then you will more than likely have a runoff as a result of watering. This is contrary to the intention of adding the water because the goal is to activate the water-soluble fertilizer that the plant can absorb them. If that is the case, why then is the opposite occurring? This is because when water runs through the soil, it is pulled lower and lower past the reach of the roots.

When the water passes the roots, the pull of gravity and the loose soil actually brings more than 50% of the fertilizer down below the root zone, too. As a result, the roots cannot grow farther to reach food when they have so little food, to begin with. You will see that the plant actually regresses and cannot sustain growth over long periods of time. This is a large reason as to why many plants and fields will fail because there are adverse effects to this.

Fertigation Is The Solution

We have discovered that this anomaly occurs when you apply the fertilizer to the soil. Due to this, there are periods of time when you aren’t placing the fertilizer in the ground. It’s in those points when the soil will have swallowed most of the fertilizer after the first watering. After long stretches, this cycle will be starving the plants. The continuation of this will only diminish the potential for the plants to receive their nutrients and you will see a negative growth pattern occur.

That is why we developed fertigation. As we all know, watering (irrigation) and fertilizing the soil are both key components of the plant’s growing process. However, they will not do the trick solely on individual merit alone. Therefore, we found a way to combine them for a much more effective and efficient process. By applying the nutrients to the water supply, to create “sweet” water, you will be bypassing the need to do two separate tasks of watering and fertilizing.

The benefit of this bypass is that you also cut the time between the watering and the activation of the nutrients in the soil. Instead of the plants receiving a fraction of the potential nutrients in the ground, they’ll be fed immediately upon watering. This is why we call it fertigation, and when the plants are provided this method, their growth pattern skyrocket. Turf Feeding has revitalized many golf courses across the country through fertigation. We can develop a single system connected throughout the field which can do both irrigation and fertilizing on the plants. This option is a cheaper and much more efficient way of conserving resources.

The Grass Is Greener On The Other Side

Instead of losing more than 50% of your fertilizer and essentially wasting water as a by-product, you renew the value of both and can even start saving in both areas. Introducing fertigation to Golf courses revives those ailing fields both in health and consistency. By boosting the irrigation lines with our sweet water, it has shown dramatic increases in plant vitality.

It is a simple cause and effect relationship, though. With a higher injection rate, our nutrient solution is reaching the plants faster. Therefore, they are being fed ample amounts and thus grow with that same vigor. At this point, you will be spending far less on feeding and more on maintenance. This is a much cheaper trade-off given the labor, and the repercussions mean that we’ve given new life to these companies, too. Through Turf Feeding Systems, our fertigation system can increase nutrient uptake and nullify the threats of inadequate feeding and watering. Not only that, but we will show a reduction in long-term damage sustained to the plants — it may even be fully reversed.
