Tarek Hanafy is an amazing Egyptian engineer living in Kuwait focused on horticulture systems and growing food in the Middle East.

We met over four years ago when he was the business development director for a large agro company in Kuwait. He was designing, building and consulting on hundreds of horticulture greenhouses and hydroponic systems across Kuwait growing food.

He impressed me, because he is an extremely knowable engineer, a great agronomist, and continues to open new markets growing food. Engineering, agronomy and marketing seldom occur in one person, especially, in the Middle East, but it does in Tarek.

The agro business he managed didn’t have his vision, and we are now partners developing new markets together in the Middle East.

Food security has become important market in the Middle East since many countries have become focused on growing their own food, and Tarek is sharply focused on food production in the Middle East.

Tarek can go from open desert sands to a finished growing greenhouse in four to five months.
